2:47am:
Twenty-five things I have learned in my first twenty-five years of life:1.
Wear Sunscreen. Okay, really, if you’re pale as a ghost, don’t just
wear sunscreen, wear it in
layers! And always have a hat and sunglasses and some kind of jacket! Do not forget to be well stocked in aloe!
2. Sing and Dance like no one is watching whenever you damn well please. Because, you could use the happies, and people could use the reality check. Sometimes you just have to be the crazy one.
3. Eat the food you like as long as it’s not killing you. And if it is, decide whether or not you give a shit before doing it anyway. If we only live once, who wants to be 100 because they ate bran fiber every day? Bring on the yum!
4. Try new things. Try them a lot. Because you never know when you’ll find that thing that really just zings and changes your whole life! Or at least your perspective.
5. Have your own ideas and beliefs, and don’t let anyone dictate them to you. It’s your life, you have a right to think and feel. Exercise that right as often as you can.
6. Learn diplomacy. You are going to need it. Often.
7. Embrace as much diversity as you can. Art, music, dance, literature, culture, tradition, history, food….anything and everything you can get your little hands on. They’ll help make you a better person.
8. Cry. Cry when you need to. Cry when you don’t. Don’t be afraid to feel and let it out. It’s not going to hurt you.
9. Laugh. Every chance you get.
10. Be courteous and polite to strangers. Watch it catch on, or not. But Karma does exist and it knows your name.
11. Celebrate every chance you get. And don’t let people talk you out of it. Sometimes you just need to party. But know the difference. Celebrate does not equal get trashed until you want to die.
12. Take chances. Sometimes they’ll work, sometimes they won’t. But regret is a nasty bitch, and you don’t want it anywhere
near you.
13. It’s okay to not know who you are. It’s okay to realize you don’t know you at all. Devastating as it may seem, this can be a good thing.
14. Love yourself, and mean it. Negativity likes to swirl you down the proverbial drain. Don’t let it.
15. Do your part. Go above and beyond. However you do it, be there for people. One day, you will need people to be there for you.
16. If God is a DJ. Life is a dance floor. Love is the rhythm. You are the music. So work your drum line, baby!
17. Being Geeky is cool. Shut the hell up!
18. Location. Location. Location.
19. Be spontaneous. It’s not going to be the end all, as long as you’re not an idiot.
20. Be honest. Even when you don’t want to be. But be tactful, the truth can hurt more than anything.
21. Believe in yourself. If no one else is going to, there may as well be one. And know that belief is contagious. People will start to catch it, and then you won’t be able to turn them away at the door.
22. Make new friends. Keep the old. If they had their weight in valuable earth minerals, you’d be one toxic duckie!
23. Know that fear is okay. It’s sometimes even good for you. But don’t let it rule you. You’ll regret it forever.
24. Know how to have fun. But know when to stop. If every day were Christmas, it would not be special.
25. Everything you need to know, you can learn from fandom. EVERYTHING. So go get hooked today. Remember, Fandom is the anti drug. You’ll be too poor for anything else to become an issue.
<3 Loves on the people who know their pop culture! <3
